Bill tells wife’s critics to ‘chill out’

FORMER US president Bill Clinton has urged those calling for his wife to quit the Democratic presidential race to just “chill out”.

Mr Clinton said a “vigorous debate” was good for the party and voters in all states should be able to have their say on whether Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama will be the Democratic nominee.

His comments came as some key supporters of Obama called for the former first lady to drop out of the presidential race for the good of her party amid fears the ongoing battle will damage the party’s chances of taking the White House in November.

“We’re going to win this election if we just chill out and let everybody have their say,” Clinton said.

“When I ask myself who can best put America in the 21st century economy . . . and who is the very least likely ever to forget that it’s a fleeting thing and you’re nothing but the most fortunate public servant in the world, I believe that’s Hillary.”

According to the latest AP figures, Obama leads his rival Hillar Clinton by 1,624 delegates to 1,499, as the Democratic race heads to Pennsylvania for the next primary election scheduled for April 22.
