ARCTIC Monkeys and Kate Nash continued their winning ways at the Shockwaves NME Awards last night, while Manic Street Preachers were honoured for their special contribution to British music.

The Arctics were named Best British Band at the annual music ceremony.

They also won Best Track for Fluorescent Adolescent and Best Video for Teddy Picker.

Their treble win — a week after scooping Best Band and Best Album at the Brits — takes their total number of NME Awards to eight, making them the most popular band of the decade among the magazine’s readers.

Brit Award-winner Kate Nash beat Amy Winehouse to the Best Solo Artist award. Troubled Winehouse also scooped NME’s Worst Dressed title.

Pete Doherty won the Hero of the Year award.

Manic Street Preachers were honoured with the Godlike Genius award.

The Welsh band’s career has spanned 25 years.

The ceremony was held at the IndigO2 venue inside London’s O2 Arena.

* Worst Album: Blackout — Britney Spears.
