AP writes Spears’ obituary in bid ‘to be prepared’
AP entertainment editor Jesse Washington said if Spears dies, owing to her bizarre behaviour and alleged suicidal tendencies, it would be one of the biggest stories of all time.
Washington said the 26-year-old singer is certainly at risk these days and if something unfortunate happens, they have to be prepared in advance.
“I think one would agree Britney seems at risk right now. Of course, we would never wish any type of misfortune on anybody and hope we would never have to use it until 50 years from now. . . but if something were to happen, we would have to be prepared,” Usmagazine.com quoted Washington as saying.
The editor also said that AP has a “pretty extensive obituary operation” and that staffers are “constantly adding people”.
Spears’ right to visit her sons remains suspended.
Earlier this week a Los Angeles court heard a full day of testimony concerning a stand-off with police at her home earlier this month.
The court commissioner decided to keep in effect an order suspending the star’s right to visit her two sons. During the incident at her home on January 3, Spears locked herself in a room with one of the boys and was later taken to a hospital in an ambulance.
Spears was placed on an involuntary hold on grounds she was a danger to herself or others and left Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre a day-and-a-half later.
