Teens critical after house fire

POLICE in Wales have denied an exploding gas cylinder in a set of curling tongs caused a blaze that left four teenage girls critical in hospital.

They dismissed the report as “speculation” yesterday and claim nothing resembling curling tongs has been recovered from the scene.

Sisters Kira and Anya Evans, aged 14 and 15, and friends Nadine Fardon, 14, and Kimberly Patterson, 15, remain critical in hospital.

All four girls were badly burnt when fire ripped through a terraced house in Old Castle Road, Llanelli, south Wales, on Monday.

Surgeons remain optimistic all four girls will survive but have revealed they suffered burns ranging from 29% to 41%.
