Concrete offer of $1,525 for ‘face of Jesus Christ’

A SMUDGE of driveway sealant said to resemble the face of Jesus Christ has fetched more than $1,500 (€1,096) in an online auction.

The family who found the image on their garage floor in Forest, Virginia, sold it for $1,525.69 on eBay, more than a week after the concrete slab went on sale.

“I really never thought I’d get any (money), to be honest,” said Deb Serio, a high school teacher who has received hundreds of messages from interested people around the world.

“It’s fun to see what people say and think about it.”

The family have hired a contractor to remove the section of concrete.

The chunk will be turned over to the winner, identified only as “islandoffthecoast”.

But Ms Serio, an active Lutheran, considers the smudge just an odd occurrence — not a sign or miracle.

“There are some people who need this kind of thing to sort of start them on their faith journey. I don’t,” she said.

“That’s why I don’t mind parting with it."
