A HOSPITAL doctor spoke of his relief yesterday at being cleared of misconduct after hastening the deaths of two terminally ill babies.

Consultant neonatologist Michael Munro, 41, walked away from the General Medical Council (GMC) without censure after admitting he gave a massive dose of a muscle relaxant to ease the suffering of the dying infants.

The doctor’s actions were branded “tantamount to euthanasia” by the lawyers representing the GMC.
