Russell quits BB house after Jade row

FILM director Ken Russell yesterday walked out of the Celebrity Big Brother house.

The 79-year-old quit yesterday afternoon after a row with fellow housemate Jade Goody at lunchtime.

He is the second celebrity to leave the house, following the departure of rocker Donny Tourette on Friday.

Eccentric director Russell had threatened to quit yesterday morning after a run-in with Jade’s mum Jackiey Budden. But a disagreement with Jade herself seemed to be the final straw.

He made up with her after a few minutes, but then headed to the diary room to inform Big Brother he wanted to leave.

He said: “There was a great deal to enjoy in the house and I’m sincere about that.

“I knew there’d be a few surprises but not of the kind I experienced. I am a big old fuddy duddy and some of the surprises were a little too much to take for someone of my sensibility.”

Russell’s fellow celebrities looked stunned by the news.

Carole Malone said: “He was a lovely old man, I shall miss him.”

And Jade’s boyfriend Jack suggested he may have “just gone to the garden without telling anyone”, before Jade filled the group in on the details of their fight.

Earlier, the Big Brother housemates got to grips with life in their new “master and servant” quarters as escapee Tourette enjoyed his second day of freedom.

Tourette, singer with punk band Towers of London, climbed over the fence on Friday night after refusing to act as Jade’s butler. The rocker was one of eight celebrities tasked with serving new arrival Goody, 25, a former Big Brother contestant, her mum Jackiey Budden, 48, and boyfriend Jack Tweedy, 19.

The unlucky eight must attend to Jade’s every need and were moved into grimy “servants’ quarters”.

Tourette lasted just 48 hours in the house and was later banned from the show for breaking the rule which states contestants must not contact the outside world.
