A NEW YORKER accused of killing her elderly mother is believed to have become the first person charged with murder as a man and a woman.

Corriana Thompson, 45, was arrested after her mother was found strangled to death at their home.

But she was born Corey Wayne Balashek and, before undergoing a sex-change operation, served nine years behind bars for strangling a female nurse in 1981.
