German children released

FOUR German schoolchildren were set free yesterday after being held for more than six hours by a man wielding two knives, police said.

The man, believed to be Iranian, pulled the four girls off a bus in Ennepetal, north-west Germany, and forced them into a nearby house where they were held in a cellar.

There was no immediate word on their condition, said police spokesman Joerg Blaszyk.
