Kylie ‘fine’ after successful surgery
The star, who is surrounded by her friends and family and said to be “feeling fine”, is expected to make a complete recovery.
“I’m very pleased to be able to confirm that the operation was successful,” said Dr Jenny Senior, who operated on Kylie on Saturday afternoon at St Frances Xavier Cabrini Hospital in her home town of Melbourne.
“I feel confident that we caught the cancer in time and that she is now on the road to complete recovery. Kylie has been the perfect patient and has charmed all my staff. I just wish I could have met her under happier circumstances.”
She added: “Kylie is now resting after the operation and her spirits are high and she is feeling fine. She has her family and friends around her.”
The surgeon thanked the star, her family and boyfriend Olivier Martinez for “making my job very easy”.
“They were so welcoming,” she said. “Finally, Kylie has asked me to pass on her thanks once again to all who have expressed their love and concern for her. Your support has certainly helped her through a tough time.”
On Thursday, the 36-year-old star’s manager said early tests had shown that the cancer had not spread to other parts of her body.
Kylie postponed the final leg of her showgirl tour after receiving the devastating diagnosis while in Australia.
She also announced she would be pulling out of her headline appearance at Glastonbury.
Dr Senior said the operation was considered best practice around the world for women with early breast cancer.
Kylie was pictured leaving the hospital with family after the procedure.
She will spend time recovering in the family home in Melbourne.
Messages of support flooded in from around the world after the singer’s shock announcement on Tuesday.
