Epic commute simply does not compute
Lynne Siddiq, 48, loses £200 on each round trip to Asda’s Blackburn store, where she has been working for four years.
The mother of one emigrated to Spain in March with her businessman husband Asim and daughter Rebecca, 13.
But she wanted to keep her part-time job as a way of staying in touch with her friends.
Mrs Siddiq earns £75.97 a week for working Friday and Saturday afternoons and all day Sunday.
But her wage does not even cover the cost of her taxi fare from Liverpool Airport to the store.
An Asda spokeswoman said: “We are thrilled Lynne keeps coming back, that’s real dedication.
“Lots of our colleagues go the extra mile, but nobody goes as far as Lynne.”
Mrs Siddiq said the two-and-a-half- hour journey is “no trouble at all”.
“My husband doesn’t mind as I’m only away two nights,” she said.
“I love my job and I have a lot of friends. My colleagues do think I’m a bit mad, though.”
Mrs Siddiq has been offered a job in Spain but thinks her Spanish is not quite good enough yet.
“I’m not fluent enough to work there, so I think I’ll carry on with my job in Blackburn,” she said.
“It’s nice to have a connection back home.”
