Archer begins theatre job on day release from jail

JEFFREY Archer was last night returning to his prison cell following his first day of work at a theatre on day release from jail.

The disgraced peer, 62, serving a four-year sentence for perjury and perverting the course of justice, was said to be working on community projects with staff at Theatre Royal in Lincoln, London.

He will be allowed out five days a week from North Sea Camp Prison near Boston to work on the project, but he will not be paid for his new job, a theatre spokesman said.
