Less than 10 mourners expected at Hindley’s cremation today
Security will be tight at the Cambridge Crematorium and police have urged the public to stay away.
Hindley’s body is expected to be driven straight from West Suffolk Hospital, Bury St Edmunds, to the crematorium on the outskirts of the city.
Her body has remained at the hospital under police guard since her death there last Friday.
Less than 10 mourners are expected to attend the service which is due to start at 7.30pm. Hindley’s solicitor Michael McCooey, said he was not able to say who will be attending.
Mr McCooey, who will be present at the service, said: “I think it will just be a few of her closest friends.”
When asked if any of her relatives would attend, he replied: “I can’t really say who is going to be turning up, the governor (of Highpoint Prison) has the list.”
Mr McCooey said Hindley wanted Albinoni’s Adagio to be played “and a mass to be offered for repose of her soul.”
