ISRAELI army planners were scrambling to re-route a key section of the West Bank separation barrier yesterday after the Supreme Court ruled the original path would have caused too much hardship for thousands of Palestinians and violated international law.

In new fighting in the Gaza Strip, Israeli helicopters fired two missiles at militants who had planted explosives, wounding several. Elsewhere in the strip, a nine-year-old Palestinian boy was killed in his home by Israeli army fire.

Also yesterday, officials confirmed that Israel has presented a list of West Bank outposts to the US, including more than a dozen it reportedly intends to "legalise."
