Gardaí race against time to find baby left in flats

GARDAÍ were last night battling against the clock to save the life of a newborn baby boy abandoned by his mother in a boarded-up flat.

They are hoping heat generated throughout the Ballymun flats complex in North Dublin will keep the baby alive.

A young woman in a distraught state phoned a garda helpline on Monday morning and described how she had just given birth.
