Reunification depends on Turkey, says Denktash

TURKISH Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash said yesterday the signing of an EU accession treaty

The veteran leader also rejected an invitation to talks in the island’s Greek Cypriot south from Greek Prime Minister Costas Simitis, but said opposition parties from the Turkish Cypriot north would attend the meeting planned for Saturday.

The internationally recognised Greek Cypriot government signed an accession treaty on behalf of the whole island at a summit in Athens yesterday ahead of joining the EU in 2004.
