Safeguards in place here as China confirms new outbreak of bird flu

CHINA yesterday confirmed a new outbreak of bird flu in poultry in an eastern province, nearly four months after declaring victory over the disease.

Bird flu has also re-emerged on farms in Thailand and Vietnam in recent days.

Earlier this year, the European Union took action to prevent the highly contagious disease being spread from countries in Asia to member states.
