Gold-plated AK47 ‘found in Heathrow arms seizure’

CUSTOMS officials pledged to continue to be “vigilant” after a number of firearms believed to be from Iraq were seized at London’s Heathrow Airport.

A gold-plated Kalashnikov AK47 given to one of Saddam Hussein’s henchmen was reported to be among a quantity of weapons discovered at the DHL Terminal Four cargo transfer depot on Thursday.

A Customs spokesman said investigations were ongoing but was unable to give any further details about the seizure.
