DOZENS of filthy and exhausted children, some as young as 12 months, cowered in a Nigerian police station yesterday after being discovered packed into a fishmonger’s truck, possibly to be sold into slavery.

Police arrested a woman accompanying the 52 children in Lagos, Nigeria’s largest city, after police discovered them in a container on a truck that normally transports fish to market, said police spokesman Ademola Adebayo.

The woman is also being investigated for the possible shipping of human body parts for use in witchcraft.
