BBC criticised by governors

THE BBC governors published their most critical annual report in years yesterday, singling out BBC1 as their greatest cause for concern.

They ordered a major independent review of the Corporation’s flagship channel after audiences complained the quality of its programmes was going downhill.

Elsewhere, the Governors criticised the BBC’s coverage of the war in Iraq and the lack of programming catering for ethnic minorities.
