Pop pin-up busts up boyband

TEEN icon Charlie Simpson will rock Dublin with new act Fightstar just 48 hours after quitting boyband Busted.

The 19-year-old kicks off his new life at the Ambassador tomorrow night hoping to crack the charts all over again.

The blond pin-up said he had three amazing years with Busted but was devoted to Fightstar. His former bandmates decided they could not carry on without him.

Busted shot to fame in September 2002 with the single What I Go To School For and former public schoolboy Simpson lead the band to the top of the charts. The trio, however, have not ruled out a reunion.

Simpson’s Fightstar will support US pop-rockers Taking Back Sunday, and San Francisco five-piece Communique.

Taking Back Sunday are hotly tipped to top charts around the world after tour dates alongside the likes of The Strokes, Blink 182 and the Beastie Boys.

Tomorrow night’s hotly-anticipated Dublin show kicks off a 12-date Britain and Ireland tour which winds up at London’s Brixton Academy.

Tickets for Taking Back Sunday in Dublin are €22.50 and are on sale now from Soundcellar, Ticketmaster in Dublin city centre and the usual outlets nationwide.
