Doherty detained after drugs bust
A spokesperson for the Babyshambles frontman said the star had been caught up in an anti-drugs operation launched after the band’s concert at Shrewsbury Music Hall on Saturday night.
Babyshambles’ gig in Norwich last night was cancelled due to the incident, the spokesperson added.
Earlier, police disclosed that a man, believed to be Doherty, and a woman had been arrested for suspected possession of a class A drug.
A police spokesperson said: “In the early hours of this morning officers stopped a minibus in Shrewsbury town centre and detained a number of people for the purposes of a drugs search. Officers also attended one building in Shrewsbury and detained a number of other individuals.”
A search warrant was executed on two coaches and 17 other people were searched during the “intelligence-led” operation.
