SIPTU's pensions plea to Coalition

SIPTU wants the Government to encourage workers to take out pensions by making a contribution to pension schemes.

The union says the Government should encourage all citizens to start a pension at the earliest possible age by introducing a pension start-up bonus.

It said this would be payable with every young persons final monthly child benefit payment, which usually occurs between 16 and 19.
