A POLICE report warning that Ian Huntley was a “serial sex attacker” would have been revealed if Lincolnshire Police had been asked for a vetting check, the Soham inquiry heard yesterday.

However, it is impossible to know whether Cambridgeshire Police, who checked Huntley for his job as a school caretaker, ever asked. The revelation came on the final day of the Bichard Inquiry which is investigating how Huntley slipped through the net for his post at Soham Village College, despite a string of previous sex allegations.

The report warned Huntley targeted certain women who would make unreliable witnesses and was a “serial sex attacker”.
