Dead bride’s brother appeals to father
Colt Rodgers, 19, said: “Over the past few days our lives have been turned upside down. Chanel’s death has left so many unanswered questions.”
Urging his 55-year-old father Terry to get in touch, he said: “Dad, we need your help to make sense of this nightmare. I am trying to be strong, especially for Mum, but we are all devastated.
“We’ve always been close, it was only the other week we were all together sharing Chanel’s big day.
“If you are watching or listening, we need you to come forward for Chanel’s sake and yours,” he said.
Terry Rodgers has not been seen since Chanel was found with a shotgun wound to the head by her new husband last week.
Mr Rodgers, who was said to be possessive of his daughter, had given her away at her wedding just seven weeks before.
Mrs Taylor, 23, had recently moved in with her husband, 22-year-old Lee Taylor, to the terraced house in Huthwaite, north Nottinghamshire.
He discovered her body in the house at around 1pm on Friday and said he was still struggling to come to terms with the tragedy.
For the first time, detectives named Terry Rodgers as the prime suspect in the murder of his daughter.
Detective Chief Inspector Paul Cottee, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We are now working on the basis that Terry was in the house when Lee left for work that morning and, as such, Terry Rodgers is now the main suspect in this murder investigation.
“At this time we don’t know what the motive is. The relationship between Terry and Chanel was a good relationship.”
He confirmed Mr Rodgers had moved in with his daughter following a breakdown in his marriage.
Chief Inspector Cottee also said the former security man, who was known to police prior to the shooting, had recently sold his business, but said he was in no financial difficulty.
He added there had been two confirmed sightings of Mr Rodgers in the Hucknall area of Nottingham, where his car was found abandoned on Saturday.
Chief Inspector Cottee said he believed somebody could be sheltering the murder suspect and appealed for them to come forward.
He also confirmed Mr Rodgers was holding the shotgun illegally and his family were unaware that he had the weapon.
