Man jailed for huge child porn haul

Nicholas Ferry, aged 42, was sentenced at Aylesbury Crown Court in Buckinghamshire after he admitted possessing 250,000 indecent pictures.

The father-of-two had also downloaded 495 obscene videos of youngsters on to his Apple Mac computer, the court heard.Judge Roger Connor told Ferry he would serve half of his sentence, adding: “What makes this case stand out from many others that are similar is the very large quantity of material involved.”

Bearded Ferry initially downloaded the material from credit card websites, but later got it free from newsgroups, prosecutor Susan Drummond said. Most of the photos were of a low level of indecency, but included one of a young girl tied up and a number taken at a Russian naturist camp.

Richard Germain, defending, said Ferry had started downloading the pictures as a way of coping with pressures at work and at home.

Ferry was a “house husband” and principal carer for his three-year-old daughter while his wife worked and looked after their newborn son.

Judge Connor said a jail sentence would affect Ferry’s “very loving” relationship with his children, particularly his daughter.

The judge said he was also giving Ferry credit for pleading guilty to the 32 charges of making indecent images of children and for the fact that he did not use the images for profit.
