IRELAND’S Charlie McCreevy has got a glowing report from the European Parliament following the hearing for his job as Commissioner for Internal Market and Services.

However, the Parliament has grave reservations on up to four other Commissioners, even saying that one, the Hungarian nominee, did not have the professional competence to do the job.

The leaders of the Parliament’s political groups meet today to discuss the letters agreed yesterday and will ask the new Commission President, Jose Manuel Barroso, to consider them carefully.
