US PRESIDENT George W Bush was yesterday urged to fire one of his top aides for leaking the identity of a CIA agent to reporters.

Former Ambassador Joseph Wilson called on Mr Bush to fire deputy chief of staff Karl Rove, saying he had engaged in an “abuse of power” by discussing Mr Wilson’s wife’s job with a reporter.

Mr Wilson decried what he called a White House “stonewall” in the wake of revelations that Mr Rove, a longtime Bush confidant, was involved in the leak to the media that Mr Wilson’s wife, Valerie Plame, was a CIA officer.
