Research finds breast-feeding may not be best after all

BREAST may not be best after all when it comes to childhood asthma and allergy.

Researchers in Canada and New Zealand found compelling evidence that breast-feeding does not protect against allergic diseases as is widely believed. It may even increase the risk of asthma and eczema.

Professor Malcom Sears from McMaster University, Ontario, and colleagues studied the long-term effects of breast-feeding in 1,000 children born between 1972 and 1973.
