EU defers decision on Palestinian aid

THE EU yesterday deferred a decision on whether to withdraw funding for the Palestinian territories in the wake of Hamas’s election victories.

Ministers indicated they were prepared to wait until a government is formed, which may take months.

Yesterday, US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said the US and its European allies have similar views about aid for a Hamas-led Palestinian government.
