Fresh quakes in Indonesia

A 6.2-MAGNITUDE earthquake yesterday struck near the site of last week’s tsunami-inducing quake off Indonesia’s coast, the Hong Kong Observatory said.

The tremor was centred in waters 40 miles west of Banda Aceh, the capital of the Indonesian province devastated by a 9.0-magnitude quake and resulting tsunami on December 26.

Late Wednesday, a 5.6-magnitude quake hit the same area.
