Al-Qaida suspect arrest may have backfired

THE disclosure of the arrest of an alleged al-Qaida computer expert jeopardised Pakistani efforts to capture more members of Osama bin Laden’s terrorist network, security officials said in Islamabad.

Nevertheless, President General Pervez Musharraf claimed in a newspaper interview yesterday that Pakistan had been “90%” successful in catching suspects in a series of high-profile terror attacks.
