Iran attack ‘not on the agenda’, says Rice

A MILITARY strike against Iran is “simply not on the agenda” US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said yesterday.

Speaking after talks in London with British Prime Minister Tony Blair and British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw, she said the Iranians had been offered a diplomatic way of fulfilling their international obligations and “they ought to take it.”

There has been speculation of tension between London and Washington over US President George W Bush’s aggressive tone towards Iran.
