Death sentence for American woman

A COURT in Oman has sentenced an American woman to death for murdering her husband.

Rebecca Thompson, 43, was convicted of killing oil worker Mark Thompson more than seven months ago.

Her son Derrick, 14, was sentenced to a three-year jail term for his part in the killing. A court statement said he would be deported.

Mr Thompson, originally from Tuttle in Oklahoma, was found shot dead in a suburb of the Omani capital, Muscat.
