Rainier ‘fragile’ in hospital

PRINCE RAINIER of Monaco remained in fragile health yesterday, suffering from heart, kidney and lung problems, his palace said.

Although his condition has stabilised since he underwent three sessions of kidney dialysis, the heart, lung and kidney conditions render the prognosis “extremely guarded,” a palace statement said.

The statement appeared somewhat grimmer than one issued a day earlier, which said the 81-year-old prince was in a “worrisome” state but also said that dialysis and other treatment had stopped the decline of those organs.
