Brentford boss Keith Andrews is looking forward to renewing acquaintances with Hull defender John Egan on Sunday.
Andrews worked with Egan during coaching spells with Sheffield United and Republic of Ireland before the 46-year-old took over at Gtech Stadium in 2025.
Egan worked under Andrews’ predecessor Thomas Frank during a successful two-year spell with the Bees and after he helped Hull to promotion last season, the centre-back is set to not only face his old coach but former club this weekend.
“He’s someone that I really like as a man,” Andrews told a press conference.

“I coached him at international level and I also coached him at Sheffield United, so I know John pretty well.
“I’m so happy for him that he’s made that move to Hull, got the promotion back, playing at the highest level and still playing a really important role for our country.
“He’s a player you would go into the trenches with. He’s been a magnificent player. He’s a man that I really admire and like.”
Irish defender Egan made 71 appearances for Brentford in the Championship after he joined from Gillingham in 2016.
