Champions League round-up: Torres nets hat-trick as PSG hammer Slovan Bratislava, Raphinha shines for Barca

Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele scored holders Paris Saint-Germain’s first goals of the new Champions League campaign, and his first goals the season, when he netted twice in a 6-1 home win against Slovan Bratislava.

He also set up a goal in each half for new signing Ferran Torres, whose well-taken hat trick took Spain’s World-Cup winning forward onto five goals since joining from Barcelona this summer.

It was a welcome return to form for Dembele, one of France’s World Cup stars with six goals, following a frustrating start to the domestic season.

Dembele put PSG ahead in the 17th minute against Slovan, reacting quickly after Nuno Mendes’ swerving shot hit the post and steering the rebound inside the right post.

He clipped a shot wide from just inside the left of the penalty area moments later, before heading in his second goal in the 23rd from 18-year-old midfielder Dro Fernandez’s right-wing cross.

Dembele then set up Torres, who drifted in to meet his cross.

Torres showed delightful skill for his second goal moments after the break, taking a deft touch to control Maghnes Akliouche’s pass before curling the ball in from the edge of the area. Akliouche created the goal with a jinking run from deep, the type he produced for Monaco against PSG last season. Torres guided in Dembele’s corner from the right for his hat trick in the 57th before Suleiman Camara replied for Slovan moments later with a fine finish.

Earlier in the day, Raphinha let his goals do the talking after being omitted from the Ballon d’Or shortlist, striking twice as Barcelona eased to a 5-1 win over Feyenoord in the Champions League.

The Brazilian was a surprise omission from this week’s 30-strong list of candidates for the prestigious award but brushed any disappointment aside to continue his early season hot streak at a rain-soaked Nou Camp.

The forward finished brilliantly in the third minute and added a second just before the hour mark to down the Eredivisie side and take his personal tally to eight goals in six outings at the start of the 2026/27 campaign.

Summer signing Karim Adeyemi produced a stunning finish, Lamine Yamal stroked a free-kick through a gap in the Dutch wall and recent arrival Gabriel Jesus opened his account for the club just two minutes after stepping off the bench.

Sporting Lisbon came from behind at home to defeat Galatasaray 3-1 while Ermedin Demirovic struck a 12-minute first-half hat-trick to give VfB Stuttgart a 3-1 victory over Viking Stavanger.

Demirovic opened the scoring after 20 minutes with a touch at the near post, but Viking, making their first appearance in the Champions League group phase, were level two minutes later when Zlatko Tripic finished a swift counter-attack with his left foot.

Demirovic quickly re-established the lead in the 26th minute and then completed the hat-trick with a hooked volley six minutes later.
