Bohemians’ ended their nine-match winless run after coming behind to beat Dundalk in Oriel Park.
Alan Reynolds’ men hadn’t won since beating Galway Utd at home on March 13 and their hopes of ending that 56-day wait looked bleak when they trailed at the break to a brilliant strike from Aodh Dervin.
However, after being introduced at half-time, Douglas James-Taylor had a hand to play in the leveller from Ross Tierney before scoring from the spot after himself a needless concession by former Bohs man Rob Cornwall that saw him dismissed.
The Phibsborough outfit then made sure of the victory in stoppage time as Zane Myers completed the victory as they moved three points clear of their opponents in third.
It was one-way traffic in the first half with Dundalk deservedly hitting the front on 34 minutes when Gbemi Arubi slipped Dervin in on the right to fire past Kacper Chorazka.
The Gypsies made a triple change at the break and it paid dividends within five minutes of the restart as Colm Whelan’s effort was blocked before falling to James-Taylor, who showed great composure to slip Tierney in for what was a cool finish past Enda Minogue.
Bohs were then giifted the lead on 68 minutes when Tierney was pushed in the box by Cornwall, who was shown a straight red by referee Aaron O’Dowd, with James-Taylor sending Minogue the wrong way from the spot.
Dundalk did go close to an equaliser three minutes from the end when Chorazka pushed away Bobby Burns’ dipping volley but the Louth men were hit on the break in the 93rd minute when Myers ensured the victory.
