UCD go top of First Division after comeback victory over Cobh

A 73rd minute own goal sealed victory over UCD

SSE Airtricity First Division: Cobh Ramblers 1 UCD 2 

UCD are top of the League of Ireland First Division after coming from behind to defeat Cobh Ramblers 2-1 at St. Colman’s Park.

An own goal from Breandán Frahill was the difference in a game that saw Rhys Brennan open the scoring and Ciaran Behan equalise for the eventual winners at the start of the second half.

Ramblers started strong with Oran Crowe stinging the palms of Dara Kavanagh at the Liam McMahon Stand  end with a blistering strike. Cobh scored with their next attack, from a long throw into the box that was knocked on by Frahill. Brennan created a small opening at the back post and gave his side the lead in the 42nd minute.

The Students equalised in the 52nd minute when Behan capitalised on a mistake from Garry Buckley and fired in from close range.

The Ramblers went forward in search of a second goal and the space in behind allowed UCD to get in and create an opening for a pass that was turned in by Frahill for the winner in the 73rd minute.
