Robbie Keane's Ferencvaros have crashed out of the Europa League following their 4-0 defeat to Portuguese side Braga on Thursday.

The Hungarian champions held a 2-0 lead from the first league in Budapest but that was overturned by the 34th minute in Portugal before Braga added a fourth in the second half to secure their place in the quarter-finals

Republic of Ireland international Callum O’Dowda played the full 90 minutes and speaking afterwards his manager spoke of his pride at his squad's journey.

"I just told the players and the staff, I thanked them for what they have done to now in this competition because nobody, nobody thought we would be sitting here," said Keane.

"We overachieved in the first game, and I can only commend the players for their attitude and everything they have done well.

"It has been an incredible journey and that is why I am not upset at all. I told the guys, walk out of here with your head held high and your chest out, because I will.

"It was a good journey and it has given everyone around the world, everyone involved in UEFA, has given us so much respect. This is a big, big thing I will take."

Meanwhile Aston Villa captain John McGinn is determined his side will not be remembered as a "maybe team" as they hunt for Europa League glory.

Villa are closing in on the quarter-finals of the Europa League, leading Lille 1-0 after the first leg of their last-16 tie, and McGinn says it is time to mark their story with some silverware.

"That's what the manager has driven into us," the Scotland midfielder said.

"He's a manager who has a reputation of not getting close to the finish line, he's got a reputation of getting over the finish line.

"So we don't want to be a maybe team. We don't want to be a team like, 'Aye, they were not bad'. We want something to show for it."

Finally, Nottingham Forest boss Vitor Pereira admits his team need to be "united" ahead of a big week starting with a Europa League second-leg clash with Midtjylland on Thursday.

Forest fell to a 1-0 defeat in the first leg at the City Ground last week and will have to turn the tie on its head if they want to book their spot in the quarter-final before a huge clash with fellow relegation-battlers Tottenham on Sunday.

"We are in a moment where we need to be united," said Pereira.

"I cannot have players for one game and other players for another game.

"They worked a lot to be here (in the Europa League). We need them for tomorrow. We need to see the team united and everyone in condition to help.

"We don't have a big squad. It means it is important we feel we are together in this game, trying to get the result to qualify. We are committed together."
