Ireland playmaker Denise O'Sullivan seals move to Liverpool 

The Cork native O'Sullivan has called North Carolina Courage home since 2017.

Republic of Ireland midfielder Denise O'Sullivan has confirmed her departure from NWSL side North Carolina Courage after almost a decade of service - and completed a mooted move to WSL outfit Liverpool.

"It means a lot," the Holyhill native said of the Mrseyside move. "It's a very proud moment for myself and also for my family, who are now only a 40-minute flight away.

"Liverpool is a massive club and I think when you join a club as big as Liverpool it comes with massive responsibility and I can't wait to get to work and to give 100 per cent every day."

The Cork native had called North Carolina Courage home since 2017 and the Ireland centurion released a statement on her X account, noting she is "onto a new challenge".

"Nine years. One club. A lifetime of memories," the 31-year-old's statement read. “It’s hard to put into words what this club has truly meant to me.

"North Carolina will always be home and I’m forever grateful to the club, my teammates, and the incredible fans who supported me & believed in me every step of the way.

"I’m onto a new challenge now, but I’ll always be part of Courage Country.

"From the bottom of my heart, thank you for everything.”

O'Sullivan will link up with Ireland international teammate Leanne Kiernan at the WSL strugglers.
