The EFL have placed Cardiff City under a transfer embargo for "non-submission of annual account".

The issue arose during the January transfer window and puts a stop on Brian Barry Murphy’s Cardiff completing transfers in the short term.

The EFL regulation applies to Cardiff's case as it comes under the governing body's 'Profitability and Sustainability' rules that state accounts must be submitted "no later than 31 December" in any season.

Cardiff City have said the embargo is a short administrative delay and they expect it to be lifted by the end of the week.

The Bluebirds believe that it should not have an impact on the club's futher plans for the transfer window.
