Arsenal prodigy Max Dowman has joined the club's extensive injury list and is set to be out of action for around two months, according to reports.

On Tuesday, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta revealed Dowman had been removed from the club's Champions League squad, replaced by Gabriel Jesus, who has been out since Arsenal's January's defeat by Manchester United in the FA Cup, when he suffered an ACL injury.

The 15-year-old Dowman, 16 this month, was also injured against United, picking up ankle ligament damage in last Saturday's behind closed doors friendly.

Arteta said: “With Max, unfortunately, he picked up an injury last weekend, and he had to come off, so we did some scans and he is going to be out for weeks.”

Dowman became the youngest player in Champions League history when introduced for Arsenal in the November win over Slavia Prague, aged 15 years and 308 days.

He has an agreement to sign a professional contract with the club when he turns 17.

Arsenal are currently without first team players Gabriel, Cristhian Mosquera, Kai Havertz, Leandro Trossard and William Saliba with Declan Rice also missing tonight's trip to Club Brugge due to illness.
