Given it has been rescheduled for Sunday 4pm, should Derry fail to win, Rovers will walk out for their FAI Cup semi-final against Kerry at Tallaght at 6pm with their fifth title in six years sealed.
Also refixed for Sunday at the same time is Waterford’s game against Drogheda United. The second interim managerial spell for Matt Lawlor will now commence at the RSC.
Early pitch inspections led to the postponement of two of the four First Division matches. Limerick being hit particularly affected by the conditions led to the game between Treaty United and Longford Town perishing. Wexford, chasing a playoff spot, had their game UCD pulled.
Leaders Dundalk will travel to Athlone Town, with second-placed Cobh Ramblers hosting Bray Wanderers. Both venues have all-weather surfaces.
Fears over Turner’s Cross being declared unplayable eased overnight.
There could still be a storm of a different kind if the threat of a planned protest against the Cork City ownership materialises.
