Friday’s FAI Cup semi-final will mark the 1000th match of Stephen Kenny's managerial career and almost exactly seven years on, he returns to the Turner’s Cross scene of his last league crown.

Kenny made his comeback on the League of Ireland circuit 15 months ago as St Patrick’s Athletic manager, his first job since his 40-match spell in charge of the national team ended in disappointment.
