Shamrock Rovers' Danny Grant: 'I showed loyalty to Bohs, it wasn’t shown back to me'

Friday’s potential title decider between Shamrock Rovers and Bohemians has been spiced up by former Gypsy Danny Grant accusing his former club of disrespect.
Stephen Bradley swooped to bring the flying winger to Tallaght when he surprisingly became available on a free.
Grant has confirmed he was let go, conveyed in a brief phonecall after a disappointing season had ended.
Bar a two-and-half year spell in England with Huddersfield Town, the 25-year-old has spent his entire career at Bohemians before they opted against activating a 12-month contract extension.
Grant has no issues with the decision but felt his loyalty to the club wasn’t rewarded with the courtesy of communication on his status as the campaign petered out.

He’s flourished since joining rivals Rovers, helping the Hoops into the next phase of the Conference League by scoring against Portuguese outfit Santa Clara.
Their consistent form means they can reclaim the title on Friday night if they beat Bohs at Tallaght and Derry City fail to beat Drogheda United.
“The manager just left me on the long finger,” he said about Alan Reynolds, who has masterminded victories in all three of the Dublin derby meetings with Rovers this season.
“The situation should have been handled better. Six out of contract players were informed of being let go six weeks out but because I didn’t hear anything just thought the club were keeping me. I wasn’t looking to go anywhere else.
“From my perspective, nobody from the club spoke to me. When I approached the manager near the end of the season, he mentioned budgets but it was a positive conversation.
“Then two days after the season ended, I got a 45-second phonecall to say the option wasn’t being taken up.
“I showed loyalty to Bohs by re-signing despite having better-paid offers in the league. Loyalty is a two-way street and it wasn’t shown back to me”.
