Mikie Rowe pounced in stoppage time to give ten-man Wexford a stunning late winner against a shellshocked Treaty United at Markets Field. His third goal of the season gets his side back to winning ways.

Despite enjoying the lions share of the territory and the chances, the home side were somewhat toothless in attack, with Rowe finishing at the second attempt three minutes into the additional four. Credit must go to a well organised Wexford who frustrated the bulk of the 1,436 in attendance.

After striking twice late on last week to collect a point against Dundalk, Tommy Barrett’s new-look outfit were unable continue their impressive start to the season.

It's three wins in four for Steven Elliott’s men, who played the closing half dozen minutes a man light as Zayd Abada was dismissed for a second yellow card.

After enjoying the territory early on, the first notable chance fell to Treaty defender Richkov Boevi, but his tame header wasn’t enough to trouble Paul Martin.

In the 25th minute Trip Vrljicak forced a stunning save from the visiting keeper, cutting onto his right from 20 yards before Martin pushed the shot over. Yoyo Mahdy soon went close with an acrobatic effort at the back post.

Vrljicak was proving a handful and he drew a smart save from Martin 10 minutes before the interval, as United continued to dominate.

A rare foray forward for the Slaneysiders yielded a corner, which Corey Chambers could only claw away. Their attack of Calum Flynn, Mikie Rowe and Ryan Kelly were struggling to make a telling impact.

Lee Devitt, top scorer in the division with six, stung the palms of Martin with 20 to play as the fresh legs of Lee J Lynch and Mark Byrne gave the Limerick side renewed impetus.

Boevi was joining in on the left channel regularly and the youngster had another effort on target, while Darragh Levingston had a brace of efforts go narrowly wide at the other end.

After Abada was dismissed Treaty pushed forward, leaving space for Rowe. His initial effort cannoned off the upright, but luckily it fell back to his feet and he made no mistake with Chambers stranded.
