Former Waterford winger Connor Parsons has made a swift League of Ireland comeback by linking up with his former Blues assistant boss Alan Reynolds at Bohemians.

Like their deadly rivals Shamrock Rovers, whom they open their Premier Division campaign against on Sunday February 16 in a showcase occasion at Lansdowne Road, the Gypsies are desperately seeking a striker but Parsons will at least add a degree of creativity.

Waterford had paid a fee to Wycombe Wanderers to recruit Parsons for the start of the 2023 season, eventually parting ways after two years.

A return to his native England didn’t last long, appearing just twice for national league outfit Dagenham and Redbridge. Their statement paved the way for Parsons to become the latest recruit heading to Dalymount Park.

“We can confirm that due to personal reasons, we have reluctantly accepted a request from Connor Parsons to join League of Ireland Premier Division side Bohemian FC on a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee,” said the London club.

Parsons himself said: “This move feels so right for me and I’m delighted that everything worked out in the end and that I’ve been able to sign.

“I have a great relationship with Rennie from our time together at Waterford. He is someone who knows how to get the best out of me.

“I just can’t wait to get started now. What a game to kick off the season with at the Aviva Stadium. It will mean everything for that to be my first game in a Bohs shirt.”

Reynolds spoke recently about Bohs being unable to compete financially with rivals when it comes to fees and wages but they’ve produced a masterstroke if the potential of Parsons can be unlocked.

“Connor is a really talented winger with electric pace, who will bring great energy to our side and excite our supporters,” said Reynolds, set to begin his first full season in charge of Bohs.

“He is a player I’ve wanted to bring to the club for some time. We tried to get him at the end of last season so I’m delighted that we’ve been able to get him now.

“Connor is someone I have worked with before at Waterford so I know the qualities he will bring.

“He is a really quick and direct wide player. He knows the league well now, and he is going to be a brilliant addition to our squad.”
