Republic of Ireland international Andrew Omobamidele has completed his six-month loan move from Nottingham Forest to Strasbourg, who have the option to buy the defender in the summer.

The 22-year-old has found game-time hard to come by at Forest this season due to the club challenging close to the top of the Premier League and pushing to secure Champions League football next season.

Forest bought the Kildare native from Norwich for a reported fee of ÂŁ12m back in 2023, and tied him down to a five-year deal in the process.

But the centre-back would only make 11 appearances in total during his time with the club and he will now hope to revive his career with the French side, who are managed by former Hull City coach Liam Rosenior.

Omobamidele will become the first Irish player to wear the colours of Racing Strasbourg, who are currently tenth in Ligue 1, five points behind Lyon in sixth which would currently secure qualification into the UEFA Conference League but they are also only seven points clear of the relegation zone.

The Irish defender could make his debut for his new side when they host Lille at the 26,000 seater Stade de la Meinau Strasbourg on Friday night.
