Richie Holland is back on the League of Ireland circuit, joining the staff of new Cobh Ramblers manager Mick McDermott ahead of the 2025 First Division campaign kicking off on February 14.

Holland served as assistant manager to Colin Healy, Liam Buckley and Tim Clancy – as well as a spell in the latter end of 2023 as caretaker boss – over several years at Cork City.

He’s now linked up with their Cork neighbours, fresh from the club now owned by multi-club operator FC32 recruiting a number of ex-City players.

Holland will be familiar with most of the personnel, especially Jack Doherty, Cian Bargary, Cian Murphy and latest capture – City’s most recent captain Cian Coleman.

McDermott, who has also added Conor Coad as another assistant, noted Holland’s duel title of Head of Development.

He said: “The addition of these talented coaches is a testament to our commitment to excellence.

“Together, we will strive to create a competitive and exciting squad that our fans can rally behind every Friday night. Their expertise and passion for the game will complement our vision and elevate our performance on the pitch.”

Cobh travel to face Kerry in the Munster Senior Cup on Friday, January 17 before their league campaign begins with another provincial derby at Treaty United.
